Anyway here's the preview of the RM20 collection which was sold for RM30. Similar to the RM1 and RM5 collection, there are only 500,000 copies available nationwide.

As mentioned this is the last post on the Malaysia New Currency, 4th Series. Hope these 4 posts which I've made gave you a better inside of how the limited edition looks like. If you are a currency note collector, do share your knowledge with me.

Malaysia's New Currency Series (4th Series): Full Set Collection

As promise in my previous post yesterday, here's a preview of the Malaysia's new Currency Series Full Set looks like:

Basically the set comprise the full range of denomination starting from RM1, RM5, RM10, RM20, RM50 and RM100. There is only 50,000 sets available in the market which makes it limited edition thus the value could only goes up as time goes by. Anyway the I got bought the set for RM300, a slight premium compared to the actual face value.

You'll realise that there is no changes in design for the RM50 note, that's because it was the first new design denomination of the fourth series which was issued to commemorate Malaysia's 50th Anniversary of Independence in December 2007.

BNM Launches Malaysia's New Currency Series (4th Series)

Was at Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) @ Kuala Lumpur at about 2pm today to get my hands on the Malaysia's New Currency Series, 4th Series. The new currency was launched yesterday by Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Najib Razak. it will be available to the general public starting from 2nd quarter of 2012.

Anyway the queue was rather long when I arrived and it took me about an hour to get to the counter. According to the police on duty, there are crazy Malaysian who started to queue as early as 2am in the morning. BNM open its door since 9am in the morning. and by the time I leave at about 4.30pm, the queue is still getting longer.

With long queue like this, people could easily mistaken this for the iPhone 4 launch.

This is the queue and the counter.

There is only 3 counter open to served the public, 2 for credit card purchase and 1 for cash purchase.

They have 3 collection as follows:

A collection of two banknotes (RM1 and RM5 denomination) - 500,000 sets priced at RM15.00 each.

A collection of a single banknote (RM20 denomination) - 500,000 sets priced at RM30.00 each.

A collection of six banknotes (RM1, RM5, RM10, RM20, RM50 and RM100 denominations) - 50,000 sets priced at RM300.00 each. For each set of this collection, all the banknote denominations will carry the same serial number.

To ensure that opportunist doesn't take advantage of this limited edition Commemorative notes sales, each person is only allow to buy 5 sets of RM1 and RM5 collection, 5 sets of RM20 collection and 1 set of the full collection. All the collection are packed nicely in an individual album complete with explanation on the notes features and design.

After queue for so long I decided to take up all allocated sets per person at RM525 and the crowd behind me follow suit. So yeah I have some extra for the single and 2 bank notes collection. Will be keep it till the right offer come by.

Meanwhile, here's my full collection:

The large one is the full set (only 50k sets), the bottom left (green) is the RM1 & RM5 set and the bottom right (brown) is the RM20 set.

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow

Living in a tropical country like Malaysia, we may never get to experience the excitement of snow falling down from the sky. Google being one of the most innovative dot com company of our time, has decided to grant us the ability to experience snow, not falling from the sky though.

This Christmas, Google has added a new interactive features to its search engine. All you got to do is type "LET IT SNOW" in the search box and hit the Enter button and you will be brought to the result page. Just leave the page idle for a few second and you will see snowflakes falling down gently from the top of your screen.

If you leave the screen idle for a little longer, you will soon see that your screen start to freeze up, don't worry, its just a visual effect thus no real damage to your precious LCD / LED / CTR screen. You will not be able to click on anything on the screen except for your browsers button and buttons on the Windows Start bar.

In less than a minute, the entire screen will be freeze up and you will see the search button change into a blue colour Defrost button.

While you may not be able to click on anything on the result page, you can actually hold the left mouse button and move it around the screen to write or draw pictures. Similar to drawing on your car window panel when its all fogged up. I tried to write Merry Christmas on the screen and its looks awesome, take a look at the screen shot below.

This Let it snow effect is just for fun. I hope that by sharing this, it will bring you some Christmas joy ahead of the Christmas celebration in less than a week.

Facebook introduces Timeline: A new way to express yourself

Facebook, a social networking site which begun rolling out its service in February 2004 has revolutionise the way people communicate and contributed in the surge of smartphone sales in recent years. Today, 7 years later, it is the world largest social networking site with more than 800,000,000 active user worldwide. Its success is due to its ability to understand what the user needs and continuous improvement, be it interface features or security.

During its developer conference back in September, Mark Zuckerberg the founder of Facebook introduces a new version of profile interface called the Timeline telling your story to your friends. Shall not waste time typing too much here, do video below will give you a better picture:

After much hesitation, I've finally switch my profile to the new Timeline, check out the screen shot here:

Now you can put your favourite photo as cover photo just like my red little Mini.

Notice the straight vertical line at the center? That's the timeline.

Basically everything is arrange along with the horizontal line you in the photo above, with the latest happening at the top and historical event below. Everything is arrange in sequence to let your friends and family have better picture of what you have been up to since they last meet you.

Over all, I would say that the layout is pretty neat and cool but this new layout also make stalking easier. So be sure to adjust your security setting to ensure that those stalkers wont be able to stalk your every move.

OverTime Pavilion KL

Was at OverTime @ Pavilion Kuala Lumpur last night for a review. The outlet is located at Level 4, just beside Redbox Plus and 1 level below Golden Screen Cinemas. Anyway I ran a little late due to the rain and the typical after work KL traffic.

Nevertheless, I was just time when staff at OverTime was about to open the first barrel of Starker. If I'm not mistaken, OverTime is the first Bistro that introduces Starkers in Malaysia and its is still the only one offering those delicious German beers. Anyway back to the review, the session was hosted by OT Entertainment International Sdn Bhd the company behind this successfully franchise business that is the most successful as of today. We basically have free flow of food (just order anything we like from the menu) and free flow of Starkers So we the reviewers basically order and eat LIKE A BOSS.

You've got to be highly skilled in opening the barrel to avoid wastage.

Sang Har Mee, it may not taste as good as what you get at those 5 Star Restaurant, but still acceptable. By the way, who would actually come for Sang Har Mee? Personally I usually go to OverTime for Starker and the band at 1 Mont Kiara.

While drinking and dining, Michelle Ching, the Head of Marketing for OverTime walk over to introduce herself and welcome everyone. She then introduces a special guest, the Master Brewer of Starker, Mr Tim O'Rourke was in town to meet all of us.

If you've been to any OverTime before, you will notice Tim photo printed on the menu just like that photo above. Basically Starkers come in 3 variety, Aromatic (medium bodied), Dunkel (dark beer) and Lager (full bodied).

And this is Eric Yong trying to be Thor.

Honestly due to its location at the corner, I almost forgotten that there is an OverTime @ Pavilion until I receive the invitation for this review. Its my first visit to this outlet and I totally love its setting and space within. If you happen to be around, do give this place a try, not for the food but for the German beers.

BangsarBabe's Wedding Night

Just got back from an awesome wedding of a lovely couple, Sue Lynn (better known as Bangsarbabe and Wei Jien.)

A little history, I got to this beautiful slim lady during a food review back in 2009. She was seated right beside me and I surprise that she could actually eat more than me. I just couldn't believe my eyes, after all she is so slim it just doesn't make sense that she could eat more than me. Later I got to know that she is in fact a famous food blogger/critic with a magic tongue. If you even ever have chance to dine with her, you would know what I mean.

Okay, back to the story, the Hollywood Glam theme wedding was held at Grand Dorsett Subang (formally known as Sheraton Subang). Attended the event with my girlfriend Michelle who seems to be more excited than I'm. It was indeed a grand night just like a Hollywood event with lots of professional photographer runner around minus the famous Hollywood celebrity. Guess were advise not to stand up and take photo but leave it to the pros to do their work. So this is in the photo I manage to take with my ipad2:

Starbucks Malaysia finally launches its the long awaited Starbucks Card. It's basically a loyalty card which offer a range of rewards and conveniences to its customer.

The Grand Launch was held earlier today at 5pm (11 November 2011), Starbucks @ The Curve, Mutiara Damansara.

PappaRich Express @ TARC

Local University and College students are definitely luckier these days compare to my time. They are not only pampered by lecturer with spoon feed lecture notes and tips for exam. These days they even have their favourite chilled out place right at their finger tips.

Was at Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC), Jalan Genting Klang Campus yesterday for an event. Since my event ended at about 6pm, my colleague and I decided to stay back a little the chill and avoid the jam back to PJ which is known to be horrible at these hour. So we chilled at PappaRich Express @ TARC which is located just outside the TARC Library (the Library is pretty impressive too, with more than a 100 units of Mac desktop, its also equip with more than 25Mbps of Internet connection powered by Unifi).

The business at PappaRich Express @ TARC is rather good. Not too sure about the profit, but I think this outlet has the best customer turnover rate. When we were there, the was a long queue at the entrance to the cafe. The concept of PappaRich Express is that you will have to queue up at the counter, orders your food and drinks, make payment and proceed to your assigned table. Your orders will be served in less than 10 minutes.

The only drawback about PappaRich Express is that, if you are still hungry or thirsty and would like to make additional orders, you will have to get in the queue again and wait for your turn which a turnoff for me. However the price difference really made it worth while to queue if you are a student living on a shoe string budget. On average, the food and drinks on the menu is 30% to 50% off the price you find at the normal PappaRich outlet. Do

Since this is an express outlet, do take note that the menu also has much less variety, but will will still find the famous Nasi Lemak, Curry Laksa and Roti Bakat with Butter and Kaya on the menu. Barley Lime is only RM1 which is a super cheap.

It's also a nice hangout spot with free WiFi. Now I wish I'm a student again studying at TARC.

BlackBerry Playbook Exclusive Launch in Malaysia by Maxis

This is hot news coming right from the oven, few hours ago Maxis made history by being the first telco to launch the much anticipated BlackBerry Playbook at an exclusive event. Only 300 or so people were invited to the event which includes VIPs, local celebrities, Maxis exclusive dealers, and members of the press.

The Launch was held at View, Level 29, Gtower KL.

Julie was first lucky person to walk away with a new BlackBerry Torch in the lucky draw.

The night was filled with glitz and glitter, free flow of beer, wines and food. The crowd was also entertained with performance by local celebrities and 20 lucky guests walk away with either a BlackBerry Playbook or a BlackBerry Torch. I didn't win but still have lots of fun catching up with friends and ex-colleagues who were involved in the launched.

Shall not dive down to the plan details as it will be available on Maxis's website and there will be a launch for the public later today at KLCC Convention Centre as well. So if you are an avid fan of BlackBerry Devices, do make your way to KLCC early in the morning to beat the jam and crowd.

MRCA CEO Night 2011

Earlier last week I attended yet another MRCA (Malaysia Retailer Chains Association) event. The CEO Night is an annual event hosted by MRCA to honour all the CEO's in the retail industry. This year, The Special Guest of Honour and Speaker is Dato' Sri Nazir Razak, the CEO of CIMB Group. Past speakers were Tun Dr Mahathir former Prime Minister of Malaysia and Dato's Sri Tony Fernandes, founder of Tune Group and AirAsia.

Dato gave a very captivating speech on the story of CIMB with a sense of humour, particularly when it comes to his good friend Dato' Sri Tony Fernandes, CEO of Airasia. Dinner was okay until the waiter spill a glass of red wine on me and no apology. If it was a casual function I would have made a big fuss about out but since its a big corporate event, even Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah the CEO of Sunway Group was at the main table. So I've to give face a bit la.

On 2nd of April 2011, Airasia X maiden flight landed in Christchurch and pledged a six figure worth of donation which prompted me to send a congratulatory tweet to Tony Fernandes, Airasia and Azran (CEO of Airasia X) for the noble action. Little did I know, the tweet was picked up by the Airasia's team and subsequently featured in the Airasia's in flight magazine known as Travel 3Sixty (May 2011 issue).

The organiser of this year Energizer Night race makes the biggest blunder by organising the a Nightmare run of the year which made all 10,000 participant furious.

The result? The organizer ran away and Energizer Malaysia has to take over and face the public.The situation became a National news after a senior CELCOM Executive started Boycott Energizer Night Race and I started(DiGi) started Energizer Night Race KL: We Want Justice. It was also rumoured Energizer incurred a loss of more than RM1.2 million in a bid to save its brand name from further destruction.

It has been a long wait. More than a month since the race was held but its better late than never. I receive my cheque last week and a parcel today complete with finishing medal, finisher shirt, USB battery charger, shaver, eco bag, and tampon(errmm i wonder why are they giving out tampon to racer? are we suppose to shove it under your ass before we run?).

POCC Celebrate Life with your BFF Pink Party @ Zouk KL

Rush back from Malacca yesterday evening for the POCC's Celebrate Life with your Best Friend Forever Pink Party @ one of KL most happening club, Zouk KL. Jointly organised by the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) and Power Over Cervical Cancer (POCC), the party is the finale of a series of event aim at raising awareness among women, their family and friends.

Arrived 30 minutes before the event together with Michelle to party as well as to support one of my good friend SueLynn aka BangsarBabe, who has pledge her support as a blogger ambassadors of POCC.

The event started with Sarimah Ibrahim and Pietro introducing themselves as the emcees of the night followed by a little game to get the crowd warmed up. Then the opening speech by Dr. Saunthari Somasundaram, Medical Director of National Cancer Society of Malaysia.

Happy Mother's day to all mothers out there!!!

My siblings and I would usually treat our mum to a nice dinner during Mother's Day. This year, we plan to do it differently. Yesterday we got up at 3am and was at Sunway Pyramid at 4am. No, the shops doesn't open until 10am and we were not there for freebies. We were there to queue up at Machines to get the much talk about iPad2. Yes we are getting an iPad2 for Mother's Day and we love our mum so much that we got up that early on a Saturday just to make sure that we get one.

By 6am, there were more than 100 people in the queue and by 9am, there's more than 300 people. We were lucky to be the top 30 in the queue. God knows when the first guy in line started queuing up. These people would probably be getting one for Mother's Day too. Yes, its not cheap but the price is Malaysia is still among the cheapest in the world.

Anyway decided to get the White(its a must to get white cause its the Apple official colour) 64GB iPad2 WiFi version. We decided not to get the 3G version because 3G service in Malaysia is still lacking in terms of speed and coverage, trust me after all I've been doing Enterprise Sales with the local telco for almost 4 years. The WiFi only version cost RM2099, RM400 cheaper than the 3G version.

Love the minimalist and simplistic packaging.

Right after we got our hands on the iPad2 with screen protector and casing of cause, we headed over to Lot 10, where YES flagship store is located. Yes, we decided to say YES to YTL's new communication service. World Bloggers & Social Media Summit 2011 - Soft Launch

Well I've been blogging for several years now ever since late 2007. Started out more as a diary to keep track of events that happen around me. Soon I was invited to events, parties, launches, reviews and so on. I must admit that I enjoy every single bit of attention and recognition given to me. yes I'm an attention seeker.

While its not easy to find the free time to attend events, edit pictures and write while juggling with my busy schedule in the corporate world, I guess the 2 second of fame outweigh and rule. I may not be the top blogger in the country or as famous as Kennysia but I guess I've achieve some level of fame. If not, why on earth would I be invited to attend the Soft Launch of the World Bloggers & Social Media Summit.

The event which was held at Luna Bar, Menara Pan Global is organised by MyEvents International, a subsidiary of Dawoo Holdings Sdn Bhd. It's essentially a preview of what to expect in the upcoming summit which will be held on the 15th & 16th of June 2011 @ PWTC(Putra World Trade Centre) Kuala Lumpur.

Energizer Night Race 2011: Runners worse nightmare

Firstly I must confess that I'm just an amateur runner who join races like Energizer Night Race just to challenge myself. I'd fun during last year's Energizer Night Race at Cyberjaya. That prompted me to encourage all my friends to join this year's race. Beside the fun part, personally I think its really worth the money because I only pay around RM50 and I got a nice Adidas vest(RRP RM90), an Energizer Headlamp, goody bag and a fun time.

Honestly the organiser did a pretty good job last year despite some minor complain. For some unexplained reason, this year Energizer decides to appoint a new event organiser called Expose Media. The result was a disastrous one. In case you may wonder how bad could a race go wrong?, read on.......

Held last Saturday, this year's night race was said to be rather special because it was held at the Sepang International Circuit, a prestigious venue reserved for world class event such as the Formula 1 race. When Energizer Night Race 2011 venue was announced on major press early December 2010, runners flock to the official website to register because being able to run on the circuit can only be a dream to most runners.

Registration was closed upon achieving more than 10,000 runners on the 24th February 2011, way earlier than the closing date of 1 March 2011. Energizer and Expose Media intend to make history with 10k runners, double the number of participants compared to last year.

On the race day, like any other runners, my friend and I carpooled together and drove some 60KM/way (Toll RM7.40/way) to the deserted town of Sepang. Based on my company's petrol allowance of RM0.70/km, the total cost of travelling will come to RM98.80(mileage plus toll) for both way.

Just as we were approaching the Sepang International Circuit, we were stuck in a brief traffic jam due to the lack of signage and the alleged illegal parking collection by the Rela volunteers.

The worse part about this whole parking issue is Terms and Conditions printed which says the Organiser is not liable for damages caused to vehicle and parked at owners own risk. From the comment which was posted online, some unfortunate participant's car got broken into and their valuable were stolen. How could this have happen? Well from what I know, after collecting entrance fees from car owners, those Rela volunteers left the car park unattended. Come to think about it, they might be the culprits.

From the car park, we need to walk quite a distance towards the Sepang International Circuit Entrance then walk past the Welcome Centre followed by the mall area and then follow the crowd walk down the stairs to the access tunnel toward the pit building. This is where the nightmare began, as the stairs area and tunnel were humid and not ventilated(probably the ventilation system and air con wasn't turned). To make matter worse, there was a terrible human traffic jam. Have a look yourself:

Apart from the small door, the other reason was due to the understaffed and poor location of the headlight distribution point. The distribution point was manned by only 5 staffs who have to attend to more than 10k runners. On top of that it was located right after the stairs just as people come up from the tunnel, causing massive disruption to traffic flow.

After collecting the headlights, everyone is free to roam around the Sepang Circuit. The race kicks off at about 7.30pm onward with the 42km starting first, follow by 21km, 11km and 5km respectively right after that.

Everyone was asked to turn on the white light before the race was flag off after the opening speech by the VVIP. Another problem arises not long after the race was flagged off. The initial plan was to have 2 water station strategically located along the Sepang International Circuit, however during the race, only 1 water station was setup. This left many runners grasping for water and air.

Runners were promised that there will be a water station for every 2 -3 km but it turn out to have only 1 water station for every 5.5KM. There were no water station at the finishing lines which left many runners badly dehydrated and some almost faint.

After having run a distant of 11KM and 21KM, runners was made to queue up what is known at the longest queue in Malaysia Race history. Queue exceed 1km and worse of all, it barely moved. All these hassle just to get our finisher shirt, medal and certificate.

Why was the queue so long? For the record, the 11KM category has about 5,000 runners and there's only one queue. There organiser only hired 5 people distribute the goody bags to 5,000 runners and they only start to pack the goody bag when people start queuing.

This resulted in the long and slow moving queue. Afters waiting for 45 minutes or so, people begin to get frustrated as the queue barely moves, this prompted people to cut queue and soon there is a huge crowd surrounding the distribution counter.

Instead of distributing the organisers begin to throw goody bags at the crowds, causing it's contents to drop off. Most participants ended up getting just an empty bag. This irresponsible action further fuel anger among the participants, which began pushing and fighting to get hold of a well deserved gift.

As time pass more and more people begin to complete the race and join in the rush at the counter. People got more inpatient and acted fiercely. The organizer could no longer control the crowd and decided to close the pit's shutter to stop the fierce crowd from crowding the counter. At the same time the police were called in to help control the crowd.

The crowd was so packed that it made it almost impossible for those standing under the shutter to escape.

At this instant, it reminds me of the game Prince of Persia( the 2D version introduced in the early 90's) This action is indeed a dangerous one taken by the organiser as people may be crush to death under the strong mechanical force of the shutter(okay I may have exaggerated a little, but people might still get injured). Within seconds, the organisers manage to keep themselves shield from the participants.

While the huge majoring of the crowd were locked out, same were trapped inside the pit. These unlucky people were then question by the police and became suspect for creating chaos earlier.

While those trapped inside were questioned, the organiser and the police also made an announcement via the PA system those the crowd waiting outside the pit. Ms Josie the Director of Expose Media(Organiser) said something like this: "We will not be distributing anymore goody bags as the crowd when out of control. I know that not all of you are HOOLIGANS but unfortunately there are some among us. All goody bag, certificate and medal will be posted to the runners registered address." Notice that I highlighted the word hooligans, how can she as the director of the organising company say such a thing? After all, all the runners paid money to participants, and we are certainly no beggars.

Soon everyone begin to head home after along, tiring and disappointed night, fan page dedicated to the ill organised event begin to pop up, Boycott Energizer Night Race & Energizer Night Race 2011: We want justice were among the 2 page created and the 2 pages garner about 6,000 fan in just a matter of 3 days.

The lack of information from the organiser and Energizer itself, fuel anger among participants. Tons of nasty comments were posted on the on the 2 facebook fan page demanding for refund, public apology, certificate, complaint on the parking, lack of medical personal were seen on the pages. This prompted the print media to do a write up. These are the link:

And here's note posted by Josie Huang Wan Ling, the Emcee and Director of the Event Company. She seems to blame all the 10,000 runners but herself. Shame on you Josie Huang!!!

Despite the tons of complaints and grievances made on the various social media network, the organiser and Energizer fail respond quickly, probably because they didn't expect the event to make a 360 degrees turn from what they intended to achieve. While participants were busy bombarding the official Energizer Night Race page on facebook with all kinds of harsh comments., the administrator did not bother to reply, instead they were busy deleting comments which agitate all the disgruntled participants.

The only official apology was made 2 days later and it was made online by Expose Media.

After a national disaster, just a simple apology posted online isn't enough, especially so when the office address isn't even valid in the first place.

Then Energizer came and shed some light just a knight in shining amour coming to the rescue. But wait, aren't the the main sponsor and culprit ? I mean the race itself is called Energizer Night race for a reason and Energizer was the one who appointed the Event Organizer. Thus they should have came out earlier and not when everything change from bad to worse.Anyway, here's a copy of the apology letter form Energizer:

Ironically, our local sport minister doesn't seem to be doing a good job either. There were so much publicity for Energizer Night Race all of the mainstream media but our Sport Minister, Dato' Ahmad Shabery Chee claims that his ministry is not aware of this race and has not giving any green light to the organizer. Ermmm, looks like everyone is pushing the responsibility around now.

Ever since the race day, runner has written complain to everyone they could think off, the media, the sport ministry, and even Energizer International. It has also gone viral on the social media network. The effect were just too much, that Energizer Malaysia's Managing Director, Mr Mike Foong has to step out and offer a public apology to all the runners and promises that Energizer will take over the roll of the Event Organizer and do the following:

Provide full refund on the registration fees to all runners(RM50 for all 10,000 runners, that's a tune of RM500,000)
To courier goodies bag too all runner (includes medal, finishing t-shirt, headlights, certificate.)

All this will be done before end of May 2011. All runners are advised to update their information on Energizer Night Race official website.

To those working with Energizer, better make sure you keep to your words and deliver what you have promised. Don't create another blunder.

And this is the worse race I've ever participated. Glad I'm part of this bitter history, something which I will tell my grandchildren 50 years from now.

BlackBerry Playbook Media Preview @ Kuala Lumpur

Early this week I receive an exclusive invite to the media preview for the BlackBerry Playbook. Held today at the luxurious Bridge Bar, Level 28 GTower, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur. Majority of those who attended the event are tech reviewers and top local bloggers.

The idea of this device is so that people can play with it, thus its called the Playbook. However when you pair it up with a BlackBerry, you can certainly do more than play. Once you've pair up the device, you can BBM on a Playbook, check your BES email and do the regular stuff which you normally do on a BlackBerry except making calls.

Airasia X CEO Mr Azran Osman-Rani

Just came back from a wonderful talk at Intercontinental Hotel(Nikko Hotel) organised by Young Corporate Malaysians(YCM). This time around, the speaker is rather special, he is the CEO of AirAsia X, Mr Azran Osman-Rani who talks about his journey in the corporate world, how he ended up with the top job at AirAsia X and how he manages AirAsia X. I must say that I'm truly impressed with how down to earth he was during the whole session. Honestly did not know much about him(didn't even know that he is the CEO of AirAsia X) until today's talk.

Long story cut short, it was truly an inspiring session to hear him talk.

After spending more than an hour listen to the humble gentlemen, I find that he is truly an inspiring corporate leader that other local top guns should strive to emulate. He is someone that could inspire his colleague to think out of the box and work smart to achieve a common goal. Will definitely look forward to work for bosses like him.

3rd PutraJaya Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

Attended the 3rd PurtaJaya Hot Air Balloon Fiesta for the very first time this morning. This annual event is held for the 3rd time this year at the same old venue, PutraJaya. It was much of a disappointment I must say. I was expecting it to be an event of international standard, but it turns out to be otherwise with many stalls setup to monetize from the innocent crowd.

Not too sure what when wrong there, but the sky was rather cloudy and wind were quite strong. Left the venue in less than an hour as the entire thing is just a waste of time. I will never come for this event again, unless they have a really attractive WAU factor to woo me.

St. Patrick's Festival 2011 @ Changkat Bukit Bintang

Guinness Malaysia hosted the St. Patrick's Festival last night Changkat Bukit Bintang. This is the first time the whole street is close from traffic and the public can literally sit, dine and drink along the street of Changkat. Anyway, had a quick dinner at Wong Ah Wah @ Jalan Alor with my girlfriend Michelle before taking a stroll to Changkat. It's been raining quite a bit lately, but the weather last night was just perfect for an outdoor event (guess Guinness must have hired a good bomoh).

Some simple do's and dont's

I wonder what's the use of this important notice? Firstly it was stated that the consumption of alcoholic beverages is strictly for non-muslim consumer and above the age of 21yo. However from my observation, there were lots of muslim consumers and those who are well below 21 having a jolly good time drinking all night long.

Secondly it also mentioned that No cash transactions of alcoholic drinks on the streets, only in outlet, but the waitress were busy serving Guinness Stout in plastics cups for RM10 each.

My point is why bother to put up such notice when the organizer clearly doesn't have the manpower and willpower to enforce it in the first place. Anyway, the main purpose was to have fun and that's exactly what I did all night long.

I was glad to have went for the event as I meet many of my old friends that I've not seen for ages. One of them is my good old buddy Thompson who was my schoolmate back in high school. Apparently this chap is currently attached with Guinness Anchor Berhad.

Meet my new girlfriend, Omega

Some people say love at first sight is never real and it will never last, but thats not the case when I lay my eyes on Omega. At that instant, I knew its love at first sight and I've got to have to own her one day.

Being born is a rich and famous family that she is, getting up close and personal is not easy. During the early days all I could do was to take a peep at her through the glass display. My dream of getting her got closer when I was rewarded with a Watatime cash voucher from my company for outstanding performance and contribution to the company's business.

Courting her wasn't easy even when I have the cash voucher, because I still need to fork out a huge sum of cash just to own it(well to some people it maybe just peanut but its definitely a big deal for me). Malaysia's First BlackBerry Community Gathering by RIM

As many of you might have already know, I founded the BlackBerry Malaysia Community(BBMYC) fan page on Facebook back in May 2009. Since then the fan page has grown from zero to almost 16,000 fan based today. All these was achieve without spending a single cent on marketing.

The tremendous growth of the fan page caught the attention of Research in Motion (RIM), and they decides to talk to me on the future of the fan page. The result of the discussion? Well RIM will manage BlackBerry Malaysia fan page while the fan page which I managed will be rename to BlackBerry Malaysia Community to avoid confusion among BlackBerry fan. In return RIM will continue to provide me with support and exclusive invites for all my fan to all BlackBerry's event held in Malaysia.

The first event which was organised after the successful negotiation was the Malaysia's First BlackBerry Community Gathering held last Friday. The party took place at Top Hat Restaurant which is about 2 minutes drive from KLCC.

Melaka Satay Lok Lok @ Setapak

It's Christmas day and its so jam everywhere as everyone took advantage of the public holiday to travel in and out of town. Initially I wanted to go Malacca for some Chicken Rice Ball and authentic satay celup. However I change my mind and decided to try out a new place in town.

As my gf and I had this craving for satay celup for some time, we decided to try this place called Melaka Lok Lok. As far as I know, this is the only place that sells satay celup in Kuala Lumpur (if there are any, please share by commenting this post).

Locating this place isn't much of a problem if you are familiar with Setapak area or have a reliable GPS to rely on. However do take note that crime rate is rather high here, ladies, if you are going, please try not to bring your handbags(this was advice from the friendly boss, didn't manage to get his name thought).

To make its customer feels as thought they are actually in Melaka, the owner put up a gigantic portrait of Melaka landmark building such as the A Famosa Fort, the famous red colour Christ Church Melaka and the city centre clock tower.

Just like any satay celup place you visit in Melaka, the assorted raw food prepare in sticks (known as satay sticks by local) are store in display fridge with glass panel to keep the food fresh while making it easy for you and me to see and choose.

A wide range of variety fresh food seafood to vegetables are available.

For those who fancy processed food, you will be spoil with choice too.

So which process food do you like ?

Satay celup would not be complete with the wide variety of raw food but without the hot boiling satay sauce. This place allow you to have 2 type of soup at the same time. So we had satay sauce and clear soup. Just in case you are not a local and totally clueless what is Satay sauce all about? Allow me to briefly explain, satay sauce is prepared with crushed peanut, tamarind juice and spice paste which gives the sauce a rich aroma and flavour.

If you asked me how the soup and satay sauce taste, of cause this is nothing close to both Capitol or Ban Lee Siang in Melaka. But when you have craving like me and too lazy to drive all the way down the Melaka, this could the best option available.

This is probably because they don't recycle the soup(satay sauce) unlike the 2 famous restaurant in Melaka where they top up fresh sauce on top of the used one. So yeah, if you are wondering why the sauce in Melaka taste so good, that's because the sauce is reused over and over again in the same pot. They probably only wash it once every day if they do actually wash it in the first place.

This is what I had for my first round.

The owner even gave us 4 sticks of grilled satay. Nothing to shout about. Guess its just part of their eat all you can package.

Overall, this i a good place to be at when ever you have craving for satay celup and Melaka seems to be too far and time consuming. This place charges RM23.80 per head for its eat all you can package. Drinks however is chargeable based on the menu. I've spend a total of RM59.50 for 2 pax and 3 drinks.

Verdict: If compare, its definitely not as good as the authentic satay celup in Melaka. I know friends who are crazy enough to drive all the way to Melaka just for satay celup and then driving back to KL. If you are not as crazy as my friends then this place is probably the best place please your craving. Variety is also much lesser than what you have in Melaka, this could be due to the low traffic of guest which made it too costly to provide a wider variety of food selection.

This is just my humble opinion which you may choose to differ.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Celebrated Christmas eve with a little twist this year. Started with dinner with someone special at The Ship, then followed by the screening of Gulliver's Travels @ GSC MidValley and then Christmas eve countdown at Bukit Bintang.

Everything went on well until me and my date arrived at Pavilion for the countdown celebration. It's was the most horrible countdown that we've been too, a handful of the crowd were terrorising all the innocents people like myself with fake snow spray sold by unscrupulous traders who took advantage of the celebration and make some handsome profit.

To avoid being a victim of the chemical made snow spray, me and my partner had to slip and hide among the crowd commando style. That's when we decides to make Al-Amar Express (Lebanese restaurant) our temporary hideout. Located in an aquarium style designed outlet at the entrance of Fahrenhiet 88, it seems to be the perfect place to hide out while being able to have glimpse of the situation outside, not to mentioned try out some of its menu.

Having had a heavy dinner early, we decided on something light to munch. So we ordered these:

Baked Potato @ RM12 ++

Nothing to shout about, just your regular baked potato stuffed with butter and cheese and served with sour cream. Still love making it myself with chicken mayo. For RM12 ++ its definatelly overrated and overpriced.

Cheese Roll @ RM2.50 ++ /piece

Nothing special, prepared with spring roll wrapper with cheese melted in it. Still prefer the traditional chinese spring roll served with savory seasonings and crisp texture of vegetables.

Bavaria Peach @ RM10 ++ / bottle

As for drinks, my date tried the non-alcholic beer, the Bavaria Peach which she like very much but I still prefer my all time favourite, the Hoegaarden. On the other hand, since this is a halal restaurant and no beer were served, I choose the conventional all time favourite, Ice Lemon Tea.

Overall, the restaurant has one of of the most sough after location which is strategically located along Jalan Bukit Bintang, couple with its aquarium style design which enable its guest to enjoy the bustling life of Kuala Lumpur. When it come to food, I wasn't impressed at all but this is probably because I've not tried their authentic Lebanese recipe. Will make it a point to visit this place ago to do just that.

During meeting today, my boss decided to have a team lunch and suggested that we tried a new place called Pizza Uno. Formerly known as Pizza Italia, this Restaurant is located at Taipan, USJ, Subang.

Apparently this place was established since 1997 and has 2 branch other branch within Klang Valley, one in Centre Point, Bandar Utama and another at Bandar Puteri, Puchong. Anyway the outlet we went to can be easily located as it's strategically located in the same row as DiGi Specialise Store in Taipan.

The Menu

Since there there were 5 of us, we decided to order a variety of dishes to be shared. Here's what we ordered:

The Mushroom was well prepared to suit my taste bud as it's crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside while the Chicken cook have been better if it were more spicy.

Gambas Con ajo @ RM14 & Oven Baked Spinach with Cheese and Mushrooms @ RM16

Peeled prawn cooked with olive oil, garlic, cayenne pepper and chili pepper, the Gambas Con ajo is a mouth watering dish not to be missed. No word could best express how much I liked it. A big thumb up!! For Cheese lover like one of my colleague, the Oven Baked Spinach is rich with melted cheese. If you don't fancy cheese, don't even bother ordering this as you might feel like puking.

Clam in white wine & garlic sauce @ RM16

The clam are among the dish we tried out of the 5 tapas we ordered. With the right amount of wine and garlic, the soup was really tasty. I'm sure it wasn't MSG as we didn't feel thirsty after the meal.

If you prefer cooked salmon more than raw just like me, I strongly recommend this dish which is served with boiled potatoes and wilted spinach. However this dish is seasonal depending on the availability of fresh supply. If you wanna try it, be sure to call up and enquire first to avoid disappointment.

Seafood Paella @ RM36

This taste almost the same if not better than what I had at La Bodega 2 weeks back. But it's much more affordable at half the price of what I paid previously.

This is my main course served with fresh crab meat, it was not too bad, seriously. it would have been perfect for me, if they prepare it a little creamier

Today YTL Communications Sdn Bhd the telecommunication arm of YTL Group has finally launched the much anticipate WIMAX service after some 2 years delay. It's marketing team did a fantastic job by cropping up the name YES, for its new service. YTL was also quick in marketing and positioning itself as the first nationwide 4G service provider, separating itself from existing big boys such as Celcom Axiata, DiGi (Telenor) and Maxis. Whether it is truly a 4G mobile operator, I shall leave that for another post.

A rather grand private launching event took place at the JW Marriot @ Kuala Lumpur which is also owned by the YTL Group of Companies. I was among one of the lucky people who got invited along a side with VVIP's such as MCA President, Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek, Malaysia Pop Queen Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, former judge of Malaysian Idol Paul Moss, and other local & foreign personalities. But make no mistake, I'm NO VVIPs or Celebrity, just a regular telco guy who blog for leisure.

YES Fastest 4G Mobile Internet with Voice by YTL Group

In less than 24 hours, YTL Group will be launching the much talk about YES Mobile Service. YTL Group claims that it's the fastest 4G Mobile Internet with Voice. According to the press release by YTL Communications Sdn Bhd, the communication arm of YTL Group, the service will be marketed similar to any other utility service such as electricity and water where the end user pay for what they use. It is said to be cheaper that prepaid and much more affordable compare to any postpaid service.

Wait a minute, does the photo above ring any bells? Well if you take note, you will notice that it capitalise on people's emotion to promote its service. This is pretty similar to Maxis's advertisement over the past one year. This is not a surprise, considering majority of the sales and marketing team were previously with Maxis.

After numerous delay and fine imposed by the authority. They are finally launching its service nationwide in 17 hours and 46 minutes.

The service will be officially roll out will be held at Lot 10, Bukit Bintang KL, at 5pm tomorrow (19th of November 2010). So if you have go no plans for tomorrow, head down to Lot 10 to check out what they have to offer. I'll be there for its private launch as well as public launch. I've heard that they are gonna give Unifi a run for its money, if that true, we will be getting between 5mbps to 20mbps for a price cheaper than what Unifi is charging. The best part is, its gonna be mobile, which simply mean you can travel with it.

After my first Terry Fox run last year at the Kuala Lumpur Lake Garden, I participated in my second Terry Fox run this year. This year, the race was held on the 7th of November 2010. Similar to the previous year, the race offers 2 route, 3.5km and 5km. As the venue has changed to Titiwangsa Lake Garden, which has a shorter route, those who opt for the 5KM will have to run 2 loop to make up for the distance.

No 1 Pork Burger @ D Legends Bar

After I've tried El Meson @ Bangsar in the previous #No1PorkBurger hunt with Eric & gang, we continue continue with out journey to hunt for the best pork burger in town. This time around the hunt bring us to yet another affluent neighborhood, Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI). We stomp D Legends Bar @ TTDI in a group of more than 15 people.

Unlike El Meson, Pork Burger is readily available of D Legends Bar Menu at a pretty affordable price too. Similar to all my previous pork burger review, I shall rate the burger based on the same 5 criteria, looks, taste, juiciness, portion(price over serving size and bonus point(depending on how happy I'm during and after the meal).

In term of presentation, D Legends Bar isn't too far away from El Meson's. For that, I will only rate it a 5 on a scale of 10. Among the few reviews that I've done, the burger was somewhat a little lacking in term of taste. That's probably due to D Legends Bar's unique spicy recipe which was a little too much for my taste bud, something I don't fancy when it comes to burger except for McD's Chicken Prosperity Burger. The spiciness actually cover up the flavour of the burger. As such I would reluctantly give it a 4 in term of taste.

As for juiciness, I would rate it at 6. I would have been given more if it weren't for the spiciness of the burger that ruin my taste bud. The portion was pretty average for most people. The portion wasn't really big but it manage to fill my empty stomach. For that, D Legends Bar earned it self a 7 from me.

As far as bonus point is concern, I'll rate with the higher point among the 5 criteria due to its friendly waiters who constantly stand by the table and put on a smile while serving me. That's an 8 for having a good customer service experience

In total this place gets a total score of (5 + 4 + 6 + 7 + 8) / 50 = 30/50 or 60% only. Though its only rated 60%, Personally I think they could have done better if its wasn't for the large amount of orders from our group. I mean, how often do you have 15 customer walking in as a group and order a pork burger each. If you like pork burger and love it spicy, then this is a must try.

MRCA 18th Anniversary: Night of Heroes

Few hours ago, I was at the MRCA (Malaysian Retails Chain Association) 18th Anniversary & Award Night at Sunway Hotels & Resort. The theme for the night was Night of Heroes, aim at giving recognition to successful entrepreneur who are successful in their respective retain venture.

As usual, attended the night of glitz and glamour on behalf of DiGi.

Which Taker are you ?

So seriously which taker are you ? Don't have a clue on what I'm trying to ask? Well why don't you catch the premier of Takers (Everyone is after something) which will start screening on the 28th of October 2010. In a nutshell the movie is about a group of bank robbers(Idris Elba, Paul Walker, T.I., Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen and Michael Ealy) find their $20 million plan interrupted by a hard-boiled detective(Matt Dillon). I'm trying to keep it as short as possible so that it wouldnt spoil the show when you watch it.

If I were to choose to play a role in this movie, I will definitely play as Jesse Attica the runner (played by Chris Brown) for the obvious reason that he is one of my favourite actor. Though he may not be some big superstar compare to Tom Cruise, but hey this guy has got some good acting skill under his sleeves and I'm definitely looking forward to be the first to catch him on the silver screen on the 25th of October 2010(yes there will be a special preview on 25th before the actual release), thanks to Sirens Media and Sony Pictures.

Frost & Sullivan's "Frost the Trail" Corporate Challenge 2010

Was at Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong earlier this morning to participate in the Frost and Sullivan 's "Frost the Trail" Corporate Challenge 2010. Organised by Frost & Sullivan for the second time since the first last year, this Corporate Social Responsibility(CSA) event is aim at gathering corporate Malaysian together and raising funds for the less fortunate. Not sure how much was raised but the beneficiaries were Pusat Kasih Sayang YWCA of Malaysia, Pusat Kanak-Kanak Kurang Upaya, KiRTAR Home and Yayasan Anak Warisan Alam (YAWA).

The event attracted some 25 teams of 4 participants from companies such as DiGi, BP, Ericsson, Symphony House and DataCraft. All participant are required to run across a 8.1KM circuit in FRIM.

This year the event has DiGi as the main sponsor instead of Celcom for the previous year.

Malaysia's longest human domino @ DiGi's 15th Annivesary

DiGi Telecommunication, one of Malaysia's leading telecommunication company recently celebrated its 15th Anniversary with a big bang. In conjunction with its birthday, DiGi got itself in the Malaysia book of records for making the longest human domino.

The day started with all 1,500 DiGizen(that's what they call people who work at DiGi) gathering at the D'House, DiGi's award winning HQ based in Subang Hi-Tech Industrial Park. Due to the massive number of people involved, the organised split everyone into 80 teams. I was appointed one of the team lead and guess what, I manage to rope in Mr Henrik Clausen, the CEO of DiGi to be a part of my team.

Everyone were transported on 40 express buses from Shah Alam to Pavilion KL where the human domino record will be created. We had a group of traffic police riding on their power bike escorting and stopping traffic along our journey down. We even drive pass tollbooth's without stopping. These really made everyone on the bus feels like a VVIP.

At the end of the day, DiGi successfully made it into the Malaysian Book of Record for the longest human domino. The success was made possible with the cooperation of 1,409 DiGizen. if you are wondering where the other 400 DiGizen disappear, well some of them were from the region while some were working back in office to ensure that all you customer out there will be able to enjoy DiGi's service without disruption.

Right after the record breaking event, everyone headed for lunch around Bukit Bintang before returning for more fun fill activities which requires DiGizen to interact with the customer's on the ground. Some of the activities includes, exchanging plastic bags with DiGi's environmental friendly bags(each teams is required to walk to 5 people on the street asking them if they would like to change their bags), giving cup cakes to people(every team was required to give out like 10 cup cakes to the public and inform them that DiGi is celebrating its 15th Birthday), getting the public to write birthday wishes for DiGi(each team was required to get 15 card written with birthday wishes) and many other games took place throughout the day. There was also a treasure hunt which run concurrently with all the games too.

Everyone was treated to a really luxurious dinner @ Starhill Gallery where the entire lower ground floor aka Feast was close for DiGi's private dinner. DiGizen can enjoy free flow of food and beverages and hoop around all the 11 F&B outlets such as Enak KL, Fisherman's Cove, Jake's Charbroil Steaks, Koryo-Won Korean Restaurant, Luk Yu Tea House, Pak Loh Chiu Chow,Sentidos Tapas,Shook Restaurant, Tarbush The Village Bar and Vansh.

Right after dinner, everyone is transported with the same buses and police escort from Starhill Gallery to Bukit Jalil to catch Adam Lambert live.

It was really one in a life time experience that money cant buy. How many company in Malaysia would actually charter 40 buses, hire 20 police escort, booked the entire floor of F&B outlets at Starhill for dinner and treat more than 1,800 of its staff to a concert perform by international artist? So far, its only DiGi Telecommunication that is able to pull together such a big project. Thumbs up for everyone at DiGi.

DiGi is celebrating 15th Birthday with Adam Lambert

On the 14th of October, DiGi Telecommunications Bhd will be celebrating its 15th Anniversary. To commemorate its anniversary, DiGi will be celebrating with its staff as well as customer. DiGi will be mobilising its entire work force of 1,800 people away from office. Yes, you read it right, everyone is going to be away from office save for the few key people who has to be on standby. All DiGizen(that's what employees are called) will be transported to the heart of Kuala Lumpur via 40 buses.

They will be going to Pavilion to form the longest Human Dominos. If successful, it will find its way into the Malaysian Book of Record. After that everyone will be stomping around Bukit Bintang area. After which everyone will be treated to dinner at an undisclosed location and before being transport from Bukit Bintang to Bukit Jalil for Adam Lambert's Concert.

Nike City 10K Kuala Lumpur 2010

The Nike City 10K Kuala Lumpur made its debut for the first time in Malaysia on the auspicious day 10 of October 2010 (10.10.10), a date which only occur once in every millennium. It was the first time Nike ever organise a race of such scale in the heart of Kuala Lumpur which has almost 9,000 participating. The run is divided into 2 main category, 5KM and 10KM route.

Didn't want to miss out being part of the Nike history, I signed up for the 10KM challenge for a mere RM50 registration fees and got myself a limited edition bright neon green Nike Dry Fit top. Since there are almost 9,000 participants, I'm pretty sure there is gonna be lots of blogs covering the even, thus I will do it the KISS way. KISS = Keep it Short, Stupid aka Keep it Short & Simple.

The race was flagged off at 7.30am at Jalan Binjal, Kuala Lumpur (beside KLCC).

Being in the running business Nike really knows how to treat the runner well. Nike strategically placed 4 Deejay Station(with blaring out loud music) along the 10KM route just to keep the runners entertained and motivated as they battle it out making it one of the best organised runs in Kuala Lumpur.

Unlike some of the race around KL, Nike City 10K were well planned with 4 water station strategically setup along the 10KM route. Not to mentioned, they have more than enough water supply to keep everyone hydrated.

I finished the 10KM challenge in 1 hour 12 minutes. Quite an accomplishment I must say as I usually take 10 minutes more.

Everyone who managed to finish the race within time limit were given a Character Doll as a finisher gift. The Character Doll come in 2 version, one male (JAY) and one female(ARI).

News has it that this will be the first and last time Nike organise such a race in KL. If any of the Nike Malaysia managements are reading this, here a message for you all. Please make this an annual event to promoted a healthy lifestyle and encourage more Malaysian to take up running. With almost 9,000 participants in the Nike City 10K 2010, there shouldn't be any doubt not to organise it again. Besides I'm pretty sure Nike will reap the marketing reward along the way.

BlackBerry Torch 9800 Launch @ Westin Kuala Lumpur

Sometimes being in the telco does have its advantages. I was recently invited by Research In Motion (RIM) to attend the launching of BlackBerry Torch 9800 on the 01 of October 2010, held at Westin Kuala Lumpur. It was a night full of glitz and glamour, at least for people from RIM as they put on a wonderful showcase.

As per standard protocol, the event started with a speech by the CEO of RIM Asia before the opening show. It was an eye opener to me when Erika Chen Huan mesmerised me with her Sand Art performance.

The show was so smooth that it looks like a cartoon animation. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, perhaps you may want to check out this video.

The entire event was rather exclusive with less than 300 invited guess, mostly from the telco's, some celebrities, medias and bloggers. It was held at the Grand Ballroom of Westin with a little twist. The ballroom was setup in such a way that when guest walked into the room, they were greeted by 3 large white wall(left, right and centre) and there were about 8 high performance projector projecting into the white walls turning it into a large digital screen. Accompany by carefully selected music in the background, the event really create an impact to those who attended the event.

We were served with a wide selection of food while seated (some were standing) and enjoying the performance arranged for the night. Very well organised I must say, as they have the food coming to us ratter than walking and queuing at the buffet line.

Everyone was given a break first after the performance and that's when I took the opportunity to collect my door gift with a little card that was given to me when I registered myself earlier.

Soon everyone was usher back into the ballroom where RIM had this mini "Who wants to be a millionaire?" game which will see the winner walk away with a brand new Torch 9800.

Since there was so many people around, Bernie Chan(a television host, actress and supermodel) the host actually picked cards from the fish bowl to select the lucky guest who will play the game. Guess what, I was one of the lucky guy selected. I was even more lucky when my opponent was Jason Lo, the CEO of TuneTalk. I was really pressure cause its like a battle between DiGi and TuneTalk(or Celcom since they own a stake in TuneTalk).

The rules is pretty simple the first person to raise their hands when the questions was read will get to answer. If the person answer wrongly, the other person will automatically qualify to the next round. Since Bernie couldn't decide who actually raise our hands first when the question was thrown to us, we were ask to play the traditional "Scissors Paper Stone" game.

Unfortunately I had to let the BlackBerry 9800 slip away at the final round when I was thrown with a question related to European History.

No 1 Pork Burger @ El Meson

Writing this post would be my second attempt on the #No1PorkBurger outing(read about previous outing here). Together with 8 others bloggers/twitterers, we visited El Meson, a high end Spanish Restaurant located along Jalan Telawi, Bangsar.

Sorry for the bad picture quality. forgot to bring my trusted camera with me, thus have to rely on my blackberry which isn't really good with night shoot.

Similar to my previous post, I shall rate the burger based on the same 5 criteria, namely Looks, Taste, Juiciness, Portion(Price Over Service Size) and Bonus Points(Depending on how happy we are with the service). At El Meson, the pork burger isn't available on the standard menu, thus you will have to ask the waiter/waitress if pork burger is available when you visit them. Without wasting anymore time, lets start with the looks.

Looks wise, there isn't really much to shout about, its just plain pork burger without much effort in the food presentation as far as I'm concern. As such, I would give it a 5/10.

Looks aside, it actually taste good. The pork patty was thinner compared to my previous reviews. A slice of bacon was added on top of the pork patty with melted cheese, giving it an extra yummy-licious taste. I will give it a 7/10 for its taste.

Juiciness is something El Meson's pork burger lack. In fact it was a little too dry for my liking, thus scoring only 6/10. As for its portion, I will only give it 7/10 for its moderate serving which left me hungry even after finishing the burger and fried potato's.

Sharpen Up

As for the bonus point, I would give it a 9/10 for its extremely friendly staff. let me tell you why, the waiter actually took the effort to get me a power extension and also help to separate the bill which was already ready. All these without a slight complain utter from his mouth. Now thats customer service.

The total average score would be 34/50 points or 68%. Despite only scoring 68%, I would still recommend that you try it out. Don't forgot to share your opinion after you have tried.

Day Trip Around Klang - Yao Yao Ping, Pandamaran.

Our next and final stop after coming back from Pulau Ketam was to this place called Yao Yao Ping @ Pandamaran Klang. Apparently this place is famous for serving one of the BEST fried Chicken in Klang Valley and maybe Malaysia.

We ordered about 28 pieces of fried chicken. (RM2.30 each)

I must admit that that really live up to the various recommendation and endorsement for serving the best fried chicken in Klang Valley. I knew I fell in love with it's fried chicken the moment my teeth sunk on its chrispy chicken skin and tender chicken meat. Despite being deliciously frieded, the chicken was still very juicy and it taste far better than the infamous fast food chain called Kentucky Fried Chicken. FYI, Yao Yao ping was once featured in the famous food program HoChak! on 8TV. We only have 2 pieces of chicken each as it was already 5 plus and didn't want to filled our stomach to the max as we had dinner plans.

They also serve roast chicken, but we shall save that for the next visit.

Day Trip Around Klang - Stopped by Marine Police

Oh well, guess it must have been our lucky day. On our very first voyage to Pulau Ketam, we were stopped by Marine Unit of The Royal Malaysian Police Force. This happen about a 100 metres away from shore when we were on our way back from Pulau Ketam to Port Klang.

About 60++ people on boat the ferry were ask to sit at their respective seat and produce their Identification Card (IC) to verify their identity. While some says that the Marine Police were looking for duit raya (pocket money) as it's only the second day of Hari Raya. Apparently the Marine Police were conducting their regular spot check to curb illegal immigrant trying to sneak in from neighbouring country

If I remember correctly there were 7 officers on boat that speed boat and they were rather friendly. And no I didn't see any of them asking for duit kopi. They came on the ferry and took about 15 to 20 minutes to check everyone's identity.

This guy in the picture was sitting behind me got frighten when the police came on board as he did not carry his IC with him. He was smart to surrender to the police before his turn and repeatedly told the officer that his IC was left in the car about 100 metres away from where the ferry was ask to stopped.

I was expecting to see the officer asking for some money to close an eye but surprising the officer let him off with only a verbal warning. This incident was really an eye opener and gave me some hope in the police force that not all officer will take bribe while executing their duties.

Anyway while the Marine Police were busy checking people's identity, the 14 of us had great fun flooding @KLroadblock with update on our situation with the hashtag #klrb. In just a matter of seconds everyone in Malaysia(well almost everyone, particularly those who tweet) knows that we went Pulau Ketam and got stopped by Marine Police.

Day Trip Around Klang - Pulau Ketam

After breakfast, we head over to the Klang Port to catch the ferry to Pulau Ketam (direct translation: Crab Island), a small little island located southwest off the coast of Port Klang.

It cost us RM7/pax for an approximately 30minutes journey which takes us though a mangrove river and the Straits of Malacca.

Waiting for the ferry was a rather HOT affair as we have to stand right under the hot sun for close to 30 minutes. Learned my lesson well, shall bring an umbrella if I ever plan to visit Pulau Ketam again. Advice to all of you out there who intend to visit Pulau Ketam, PLEASE bring an umbrella.

The ferry which has a capacity of about 70 paxs is not well maintained. Perhaps the government could help refurbish the ferries to better promote Pulau Ketam as a tourist.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a big seafood restaurant which we later dine at.

Pulau Ketam is village that thrived on fishing activities with majority of its population being Chinese. It's said that Pulau Ketam was lifeless until about 20 years back when some Chinese immigrant landed and decided to call it home. The island is so small that people on the island travel by bicycle only. There were no motorise land vehicle sighted throughout the island.

I just cant imagine how the fire brigade operates with fire bicycles instead fire engines.

Look!!! they have satellite TV too, impressive.

I'm amazed and impressed that they have satellite TV because I'd always thought of Pulau Ketam as a lay back fishing village.

Pulau Ketam Fried Ice Cream

This fried ice cream store which appears to be the one and only ice cream store on the island is operated by an old couple in their 60's. Unlike the wide variety served at Baskin Robin, it comes in 4 flavour only, namely Chocolate, Yam, Vanilla or Strawberry. Each being sold for RM2.20 (USD 0.71)

Pre-prepared ice cream stuff in some sort of pastry are kept in a portable freezer.

This place is packed with local tourist, mostly day tripper.

There is a moderate size temple on the island, indicating Taoism is a major religion on the island.

Table Soccer is one of the local's favourite past time.

After walking round the little island and trying our the variety of street fare, we proceed for seafood lunch at Kuai Lok Hian Seafood Restaurant. Here's some of the dishes we had:

We spend about RM160 for 8 dishes, rice, Chinese tea, coconuts and few bottles of Guinness. That's pretty cheap for 12 people and the amount of fresh seafood we had. The result:

We left there fully satisfied.

Honestly the food isn't really that fantastic, the it was really fresh and that made up for the taste. Certainly a good place to be at if you are looking for fresh and cheap seafood. We had good companies too, and that made it even more special.

Right after lunch, some of us crave to try the Fried Oyster aka Ho Jian which is being sold at almost every corner of the street, with each of them claiming to the be the best and authentic staff. Almost all of they even have a newspaper cutting to backed their claim. Besides friend oyster, they also have friend lala(clams).

We decided to buy from this uncle simply because it looks the best among all the stalls.

Just to look of this make me hungry.

Though we bought 1 each of the fried oyster and fried lala, we never really had to chance to try it while its hot as everyone was busy yapping away. We ate it together with Yao yao ping fried chicken later in the evening. By the time we try, it didn't taste that good, probably because it already cold.

Next we had egg shaped sorbet which is being sold at a sundry shop right beside Kuai Lok Hian restaurant.

The seller claim that its made from fresh fruit juice. However I doubt so, cause it didn't taste fresh.

Overall its nice place to visit, a must for everyone who stay in Klang Valley. Basically if one plans to visit this place, please try to control yourself to avoid being con into buying underrate stuff and food just because there is a sign which says its famous or special.

Day Trip Around Klang - Seng Huat Bak Kut Teh.

On the second day of raya, I joined a group of bloggers and tweeples for a day trip around Klang. Thank to Eric Yong for organising and getting everyone together. The goal for the day was to have Bak Kut Teh for breakfast, Seafood in Pulau Ketam and Fried Chicken in Pandamaran. And we are gonna have all this with a budget of not more than RM100.

So we gathered at BHP Petrol Station, along Federal Highway, right after Shah Alam Batu Tiga toll before convoying with 3 MRS to Seng Huat Bak Kut Teh, the Famous Under the Klang bridge Bak Kut Teh @ Klang Town. If you are clueless what Bak Kut Teh (BKT) is, read here at Wikipedia.

As usual, the place was packed when we arrived, lucky for us, Thomas Yap arrive early to reserved 2 large table for about 21 people. We later added another large table so that everyone can sit comfortably.

Yau Fan (Oily Rice)

Yau Fan or Oily Rice is often prepared by mixing white rice with fried shallots.

Yau Char Kwai is a long deep fried dough known in English as Chinese Oil Stick (just i case you are not know what Yau Char Kwai is click here Wikipedia for more info). What you see in the picture had been cut into pieces and served in bowl.

The bak kut teh is served in bowl just as there were traditionally. As there were so many of us, its rather hard for us to share, so we order a bowl each(with a mixture of pork rib and pork intestine.

After my recent visit, I'm sad to say that the standard @ Seng Huat Bak Kut Teh has dropped tremendously compare to my last visit 2 years back. In fact my regular BKT outlet near Sentosa Klang taste much better (anyway that's another story to share). The soup wasn't as tasty as it use to be that I didn't even ask for more soup. The amount of soup you see in the picture is all that I had for the day. Traditionally people who loves Bak Kut Teh, will never have enough of the soup, and would even go to the extend of soaking the rice into the soup before eating it.

I'm not condemning that the food is not good but the quality drop significantly and I find my regular BKT stall to be better than this. Hope Seng Huat BKT will do something to improve their quality and bring it's BKT back to its glory.

The meal cost us about RM11/person. Affordable by KL standard but maybe a little pricey for some.

About 3 weeks back, a close friend of mine shared this rather meaningful video on Facebook entitled "The Meaning of Life". It's a great video that got me thinking and reflect on my own life. Good things are meant to be shared, so I decided to share it with some tweeple(that's what we call people who tweets) with the following tweet:

DiGi: The Next Level Finale

Attended DiGi The Next Level Finale, a reality TV Show organised by NTV7 and DiGi Telecommunications. The reality show offers RM50,000 worth of Cash Prize for the best business idea and 1 year of business support from DiGi Telecommunications (a subsidiary of Telenor Group)

The finale which was held at Sri Pentas 2, Plaza Alam Sentral, Shah Alam last night was hosted by Hansen Lee, a well known emcee and an upcoming actor who also host the NTv7 Breakfast Show.

Nike City 10K - 10.10.2010

What will you be doing on the 10 of October 2010? If you've not got any plan in mind, why don't you sign up for Nike City 10K KL Run which will be happening 1oth of October, a date regarded many as the Perfect 10.

This race which is divided into 2, 5KM and 10KM run, is open to public age 16 and above. Those below the age of 25 as of Oct 10 will only need to pay RM10 for registration while those above 25 will need to pay RM50. Even with the price of RM50, it's certainly worth it as you will be getting a Nike Tee.

Each participant will get an exclusive Nike City 10K Kuala Lumpur Tee and a finisher pack upon completing the race. The qualifying time for the 10K run is 3 hours, which means you have ample time to complete the run.

No 1 Pork Burger @ Andes - BYO

Last week I've the privilege of joining Eric Yong in his quest to search for the ultimate No.1 Pork Burger in Malaysia. Project's code name #No1PorkBurger. As I've missed the first outing, I made it a point to squeeze in some time for this outing which happen on the 26th of Aug.

There were about 9(bloggers/tweeples) of us in total(including myself) and they are @ericyong77 Eric, @bigboss8888 Jonathan Tan, @vin_ann Chin Ann, @patchay Patrick Chay Ing Keong, @SalocinTEN Nicolas, Joe and @mynjayz Jason.

This time around we dropped by Andes, a little Restaurant hidden at the corner of Aman Suria. Andes specialise in Western, Local and BYO which literally stands for Bring Your Own(BYO). The BYO concept is basically to allow its customer the freedom of bringing and enjoy their own drink, be in fine wine or liquor of their choice without high corkcage charges.

This will be one of my very few food review, so please bear with me as there are lots of improvement required.

The menu were pretty simple and straight forward, with one A4 size menu for food and another for beverages.

As the mission was to identify the best pork burger in town, each of us ordered a set of pork burger without indulging further into the menu.

Andes Pork Burger @ RM12.90++ each

As set by Eric, the No 1 Pork Burger Mission's review shall be rates from 0 to 10 for each of the following criteria: Looks, Taste, Juiciness, Portion(Price Over Service Size) and Bonus Points(Depending on how happy we are with the service).

Look wise, i shall rate it 5/10 as it didn't really look appetising for a start but that didn't really stop me from whacking the whole burger as I was hungry after being stuck on federal highway for an hour.

The pork burger certainly taste better than it looks. Though I was rather hungry at that point, I'm pretty sure that the pork burger taste good. I'm not good at words to describe how good it was but I will give a 7.5/10 for being just right for my taste bud(not too salty or sweet).

Personally I think the good taste has a lot to do with the juiciness of the pork patty. This is a sign of freshness and how well it was cooked(not too cooked but just right to serve). If you seen Eric's video with squeezing the pork patty between the buns, you will see the juice Oozing out of the pork patty. If everyone were to kept their silence, I bet you could even hear the juice flowing out. For that I think it deserves a 8.5/10

I must really agree with Eric that the it's portion is rather worth while. At the price of RM12.90, I can feel the burger right up my throat. Thus I think it's by far one of the most affordable meal I've tried in a restaurant of a similar class/standard. I shall give it a 9/10, the highest point among all the criteria.

For appetizer, Eric ordered a serving of Daddy Dry Pork Chili for everyone to share.

Daddy Dry Pork Chili @ RM12.90 each too

Basically a 3-layer pork meat marinated and cooked with lots of chili. Nice if you enjoy eating fat rich pork and spicy stuff.

Lastly on the last criteria, Bonus Point, I will give it a 6/10. Honestly the service was great, the owner Andy even served us with dessert right after our meal. However I think the owner tried alittle too hard to please us. Maybe he knows that there are some influential blogger among our group but that shouldn't be the reason for a better than usual service, 2 points were deducted because of this.

Being a non-smoking restaurant, the owner go to the extend of asking other patrons for permission so that some of my group member can take a puff. for that I minus another 2 points from the the bonus point.

Over all, this place scores 36/50 or 72%. Final Verdict: A must try for all pork lover, pork burger in particular.

DiGi to Launch Micro Sim soon

Although the ever popular gadget such as Apple iPad and Apple iPhone 4 has yet to arrive at our shore officially, many gadget enthusiast has found their own way to obtain those cool gadgets either by purchasing it abroad or from the grey market.

Once you've got your hands on those cool gadgets, the first problem you have is that the local telco does not have micro sim. For the record, both Apple iPad and iPhone4 required micro sim, your ordinary sim card wont be able to fit in the sim holder.

While there are some that manage to trimmed their normal sim card according to online guide easily available via google or youtube, there are some who prefer to obtain micro sim from the local telco.

Movie Screening: Cats & Dogs in 3D

In less than 8 hours, I'd have the privilege to catch the preview screening of Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, in 3D that is. This is of cause thanks to my buddy Eu Veng or better known as Evo.

According to Evo, he is a titan member of Advertlets, which is something like premium member I suppose and he is suppose to give aways tickets that were given to him. It's certainly nice of him to offer me the chance to catch the movie before the it's officially in the cinema's near you!!!

Today DiGi Telecommunication launched a new event, scouting for fresh faces to be used in its advertisement. It's breaking away from the conventional marketing tactic of using supermodel or well known personally. Instead, they want to use ordinary people who are DiGi user at heart.

No details were given on the potential cash reward, but you will certainly get some fame when you picture is used in DiGi's advert on all major daily.

I've personally went for the audition just now and hopefully I will get some good news soon. If you wanna try your luck, here's the details:

Malaysian @ TVB Mr Hong Kong 2010

Do you all know that a Malaysian guy made the country proud last night by getting into the top 10 in TVB Mr Hong Kong 2010.

Not sure if any of you reader are a fan of TVB Mr Hong Kong 2010. Similar to TVB Ms Hong Kong, TVB Mr Hong Kong is the male version produced by Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB).

The Malaysian guy is non other than Mr Nicholas Ooi, born on the 29th of Sept 1985. I'm proud to have known him personally and call him my friend. I'm even more proud when he made it into the top 10 beating many hopeful Hong Kong guys in the annual event.

Very soon, you wont have to take to escalator from the top floor of the mall all the way down to the lowest floor. You may ask why? or maybe thought of the lift.

Soon you will be able to slide your way down 5 story from the top floor to the lower ground on a 50 metres long slide in just 10 seconds. Yes that right, all it takes is 10seconds. It's not just about the fun, brand new experience, but also the amount of time you save taking the escalator to go down 5 story.

This giant slide within Empire Gallery is still under construction and should be ready to deliver a fun and exciting shopping experience by September 2010.

If you are worry about the safeness of this new ride, rest assure that its looks and feels pretty safe. The slide is actually covered by a see through plastic on the top, so you don't have to worry about flying out of the slide.

If you were to look down from this angle, it may look a little scary to some people but I'm pretty sure it will be totally different thing when you are inside the covered slide.

As the slide is still under construction at the moment, not much details were available at the moment. Hopefully the service will be offered for free or maybe a small and affordable token fees. Will definitely look forward to try it out.

In in local social media scene, social media addicts or some call them enthusiast have been organising random gathering called tweetups which is basically a real live meet up organised by twitterer(people who tweets) via twitter. ShootUrTweeple is a combination of tweetups and photography with a slight twist to make it more interesting. In general, shooturtweeple is a gathering for twitterer at point A before walking along a designated route to point B while equipped with a photography gadget, be it a DSLR, SLR, Digital Cam, Lomo, 35mm film camera or any camera phone. You may be a amateur or professional, it doesn't matter

Several weeks back, April Yim initiated KL's first ShootUrTweeple and invited me to participate which i eventually did out of curiosity. The meeting point was @ Starbuck, Menara Maybank, KL before proceeding to walked across to Mydin.

Pikom PCFair - Not Cheap but Cheat

Gone are the days when people make time for visit PCFair to get cheap bargains. Still remember back in 1999 when PCFair was held at Putra World Trade Centre(PWTC), things sold back then are really worth the time and afford in braving the crowd.

Today, the organiser and unscrupulous traders will use every dirty tactic available to convince and confuse consumer into believing that they are getting a good bargain when not really getting it cheaper in actual fact. It plays a lot of consumer buying behaviour too, where Malaysian usually think PCFair is where all the good deals are and less IT savvy consumer would usually end up being victimised. PCFair is no longer about IT, it's about girls too. Most traders today will hire scantily dressed girls as promoter to attract crowd. Judging by the rate its going, its just a matter of time before PCFair is turn into a flesh trade fair. No offence to those ladies who want to earn some pocket money, but these traders should in fact hire people that really have the knowledge to sell the product/service correctly and not provide misleading information to consumer.

No doubt there is improvement in term of venue, comparing with PWTC, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is definitely a much more conducive place for a fair like PCFair but it has some how loses its initially purpose and unique selling point, which is to offer unbeatable value to consumer.

I've been a loyal fan and been visiting PCFair religiously since the late 90's but stop going a year after it was relocated to its current venue because of the above mentioned reasons. However I recently drop by last Friday on the first day of the fair to help my cousin check out on the deals for notebook. Didn't purchase anything but manage to bring back some brochures back for price comparison.

Since my cousin has been eyeing on a DELL Studio 15 series notebook, I pay particular attention to Dell's brochure.

Dell business must have been hit hard by the recent credit crunch in the States that it has to appoint dealers to help push sales these days. From my observation, one of its dealers seems to be Thurder Match, a rather large IT vendor in KL.

Dell as you know is a well known Computer company which advocate on cutting the middle man thus delivery much more affordable Computers/notebooks. It's major retails business rely heavily on its e-commerce portal.

Back to the brochure on Dell's offer, refer to the scan copy of the brochure here:

Well guess, Dell made a wrong move by encouraging consumer like me to visit its PIKOM web address because what I'm about the share with you is going to somehow tarnish their reputation.

That's the model my cousin has been eyeing on.

Take a close look at the Dell Studio 15 model that I've circle in red. Too small to see the specs? Well have a closer look in the next picture.

Clearer now? Be sure to read carefully.

For this particular Studio 15 Series which cost RM3,999. It comes with 3 main things:

Intel® Core™ i7-720QM 1.6GHz
4GB DDR3 SDRAM
500GB Harddrive

So with that brochure I did some research that very night. Guess what, I visited the website(dell.com.my/pikom) printed on the brochure I obtained earlier and found the following:

Studio 15 Series selling for RM3,999 but better specs.

Take a close look at the processor, ram and harddisk. For the same price that consumer pays, they actually get a strip down unit @ PCFair. if you purchase online, you basically get better specs for the following 3 item:

Intel® Core™ i7-740QM 1.73GHz
6GB DDR3 SDRAM
640GB harddisk

These 3 items are estimated to cost RM500 more on market value, not cost. I'm sure if one were to take cost price, its much lower. But then again as consumer we felt cheated. The reason one were to buy it at PCFair is because its suppose to be cheaper and we can collect the notebook on the spot. Besides that its suppose to boost sales for retailer like dell because Malaysian in general are still pretty sceptical when it comes to purchasing things online.

Anyway, I wasn't satisfied with what I've discovered and decides to go down to KL Convention Centre again on Saturday to ask the sales person in more details.

So i went there the following that and ask the sales person whats the best deal. I told him my needs and he point to the Studio 15 notebook at RM3,999. I then told him that I've been eyeing on that model but I notice the difference in specs while surfing the dell's Pikom website. Guess what he replied me? If you don't like can always go buy online or buy other brands. I think he was a little pissed being challenge by me. But then didn't his manager or company trained him not to be rude to customer in the first place. After all, customer is always right.

I went there on the second day, brave through the crazy jam from all direction leading to PCFair and then brave the human traffic walking along the ill planned route by PIKOM which required people to waste time by walking from one end to another and end up paying exorbitant fees for parking. It's really disappointing that after all the trouble, I still have to face such rude sales person from an international brand name called DELL.

I ended up making purchase online via www.dell.com.my/pikom , but I'm still very dissatisfied with the misleading information provided by Dell's brochure vs Website and the ill treatment from its sales person, be it direct employees or via its dealers. Therefore I demand that PIKOM, DELL and the dealer involved apologised for such careless mistake and also compensate for the time and money lost.

Dato' Tony Fernandes @ MRCA CEO Night 2010

Recently meet up with Dato' Tony Fernandes while attending the Malaysian Retail Chain Association(MRCA) CEO Night 2010 @ One World Hotel, Bandar Utama on the 29th of July. Tony was one of the guess speaker invited to talk about Branding but he end up entertaining almost 600 guest with AirAsia's success story and how it started from a humble beginning to become a multi billion dollar business today. Having dabble in the entertainment industry certainly has an edge in getting all the guests attention.

I'm managed to catch up with Tony at the end of the event and was surprise that he still remember meeting me at DiGi's office about 2 years back. Back then we even took a photo together and Tony told me to look for him with that photo if I ever need a job.

DiGi Telecommunications launches its maiden partnership with Apple Inc. 3 months back and introduces the much awaited iPhone 3GS packages. At the same time, DiGi also introduces a sell one get one free program. This is to encourage all DiGi employees to help spread words to their friends and family. The marketing campaign prove fruitful as more than 1,300 employees successfully introduces their friends and family to sign up for the new iDiGi plan.

Have you heard of Alternative Investments?

However my recent maiden visit to the Investor Expo 2010 held @ Kuala Lumpur, gives me a different perspective on variety of options available when it comes to investment. Read on to find out why.

What I'm about to share with you might not be totally new to you but it sure is new to me. The alternative investment in the form of liquid but mind you, it's not easy to liquidate when you are in need of cold hard cash.

This alternative investment option is actually Wine. Something most of us love to drink during special occasions or when there is something worth celebrating. I've been drinking wine for quite sometime now, most of the time during corporate functions, company events and sometimes with my acquaintances. I knew the rich and famous loves to drink and collect wine, in fact a lot of people buy wine as gifts these days, but little did I know that people actually invest in it and make a profit out of it.

If you are not from the ultra rich and elite Malaysian families, then this may probably be the first time you are reading about this because its still quite new to the Malaysian mass. So far the only company offering such investment option in Malaysia today is Premium Liquid Assets Sdn Bhd.

Each investment has to be made in a minimum and multiple of 12 bottles of 75cl(Centiliters) wine which is equivalent to 1 case. If you are wondering how much it cost for a minimum investment in ringgit and sens, here are some example; 1 case of Château Mouton Rothschild 1995 is about €4,600 or RM18,596.45 while 1 case of Château Haut Brion 1989 cost roughly € 15,280 or RM1 772.55(€ 1 = RM4.04). Yes it's quite pricey but definitely a good option to invest as a form of hedging against conventional investment options such as properties and stock which are much more volatile and sensitive toward economic and political development around the globe.

Well yesterday I was chilling @ Ecoba since 1pm till 9pm, yes I was there during working hours and its the longest time I've spend @Ecoba. Actually it was my company's half yearly review and everyone was invited to have an off site meeting.

This is gonna be a short post dedicated to one of my closest friend I knew through blogging. Happy Belated Birthday Sue Lynn (better known at Bangsarbabe). She is popularly knows as BangsarBabe for one reason, she is one hot babe hail from Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

She threw a private party at her house last week to celebrate her 25th birthday. Unlike most birthday party which I've attended, this one is done differently, we had steamboat for a change. There's even a shisha corner with a variety of flavour for all the shisha's enthusiast, unfortunately I don't shisha.

Waterfall @ Apek Hill

If one were to ask me what's KL best kept secret, I would probably tell them it's the waterfall @ Apek Hill aka Saga Hill. Want to know why? Read on...

Apek Hill (Old Man Hill) is one of the few rare gems available that is still well preserved in today's over developed Kuala Lumpur. It's like a sanctuary in the middle of a concrete jungle. If it weren't because my friends and I needed some training, I wouldn't have had the chance to discover such a beautiful place to share it here.

Located within the vicinity of Taman Cheras Awana, Taman Segar Perdana and Taman Bukit Hartamas, Apek Hill's entrance can be accessible via several entry point. One of the most popular one which I use is located at the end of Jalan Awana 23, Taman Cheras Awana. If you need to get the direction, try searching for "Jalan Awana 23, Cheras" via Google Maps

This hill is rated between Moderate to Advance level by most hikers who have been there. It's considerable tough even for some who frequent to the gym. So if you have not been working out or done any hiking previously, my advice is to try out easier hill like Bukit Kiara or Bukit Gasing. If you aren't sure how tough Apek Hill can be, let me share with you how I would personally rate it. From the scale of 1 to 10, Apek Hill would be rated 5, while Bukit Kiara and Bukit Gasing will be rated 1 and 3 respectively. If you are

Went up for the second time in a group of 5 including myself. Didn't take much picture through the journey as I forgotten to charged my battery, so I was conserving power for the best part. from the entry point, it took our group approximately an hour to reach the waterfall. From the entry point, there is 5 rest Station with the 5th Station located at the peak(386M above sea level).

Apek Hill is really well maintain in term of Cleanliness and it's actually quite safe because there is acutally a group of volunteers that operates a adhoc rescue team. Just in case you get lost in the hill, be sure to look up for small notes with numbers posted up on the trees. Never tried calling through, but I must say it's still pretty impressive.

Don't be fool by the gentleness of the water that you see flowing. It's actually quite hard and painful when the water hit your body. Definitely not recommend for those who are in between the two universal gender(no offense intended).

This is actually my second time hiking up Apek Hill over the past 3 weeks and I must say the feeling just got better the second time, most like because we have got more confident after the first attempt. Hiking up Apek Hill is a real challenge for people like me, as I dont go to the gym and rarely do any exercise. At the same time I was thrill to see so much greenary smack right in the middle of Kuala Lumpur. The crisp cool fresh air that we breath there is simply refreshing. Some old folks(age between 50 to 65) who frequent venture around the hill claim that its the fresh air and challenge that keep them fit and healthy.

It is indeed a rare gem and if you have not visited the place just yet, maybe you should try to visit it one of these days before the government decides to make way for more development in the city.

During our first visit 3 weeks earlier, we had another 4 friends with us. But they have since given up due to the intensity of the hill. LOL. Actually they were busy burning midnight oil to catch the World Cup 2010. Nevertheless the 5 of us had a great time enjoying nasi lemak panas by the waterfall and playing with water. Brings back good old memory when my late grandpa used to bring me to the waterfall in Taiping.

Have been actively training and hiking for the past few weeks in prepare myself physically and mentally for my maiden trip to Mount Kinabalu @ Sabah end of this month. Many people whom I've talk to agreed that Apek Hill is a good training ground for those who plan to go Mt Kinabalu. So watch out for my post about my experience conquering Mt Kinabalu (hopefully I'm able to reach the peak without giving up half way).

Jazz @ No Black Tie, KL

After 2 session of intensive training yesterday and this morning, my friend invited me to chill out and was introduce to this place called No Black Tie aka NBT, which is located few streets away from Changkat Bukit Bintang. I've heard a lot about it but never been there until today. It's one of the few premier Jazz Club around town.

The Entrance

From outside, this place look really calm and somewhat deserted. If it weren't for my friend, I would never venture into this place. It has nice greenery landscape porch to welcome guess like me with a serene feeling as I walk towards the entrance. The main entrance is design in such a way that it look like a secret door. Honestly I never knew it was a door and was looking around trying to find the entrance until my friend push the wooden panel right below the No Black Tie sign.

As I walked in, I was greeted with a mini bar and the cashier counter. That's when a friendly waiter come and greet me before escorting me to the main sitting area just like what you see in the picture above and the next few picture below. I was amaze with what I saw upon stepping in, almost everything was made of wood from the chairs to tables. The wall and floor were covered with high quality treated wood. I suppose its design in such a way to absorb all the echos. I felt like walking into Petronas Philharmonic Orchestra, a smaller version of about 20 times. Nevertheless the feeling was just great.

Got a really nice place for 2 by the wall, and ordered a bottle of white wine while waiting for the first performance to start.

Stage performance begun with Reza Salleh, a funny guy who plays good Jazz music. He composes his own song and sing pretty well. To add on, he is a pretty good story teller, he told stories from the beginning to the end and introduces every single song with a story. His story telling skill somewhat make his music even more interesting because I can start to relate the lyrics to his story as he sings.

There was another group Singaporean performer during the night, but they sing and look more like a rock star. Sadly I don't get what they were signing as the guys were like mumbling and yelling. Worse of all, I just couldn't feel them. Anyway shall not mention the band's name here.

So if you are looking for a really nice place to bringing your dream girl out on a first date and impress her, a romantic dinner with your love ones or chilling out with friends. Didn't had chance to try out the food as I had dinner before coming over, but I heard my friend commenting that it's quite good.

Maybe I shall drop by again soon to try the food and write a short review, meanwhile go there to enjoy the wine's and music.

*Note: for some of the performances, you maybe required to pay a token sum as cover charged. Support local music industry abit lah, these guys/girls really work hard and deserve it. Once in a while they will have international musicians making appearance too.

MPSJ - NST Carnival & 10KM Run

With less than a month before my maiden trip to Mount Kinabalu, I started my training yesterday by spending 1/2 a day hiking @ Apek Hill(aka Bukit Saga, Cheras. It was a challenging one, especially for people like me who doesn't work out. Ended up with muscle ache on both my legs, anyway that's another story to be shared.

This morning I was suppose to participate in the MPSJ(Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya) - NST (New Straits Times) Carnival & 10KM run, but my aching body was rather reluctant to get out of bed. After having a short mental struggle with my body, I decided to get up and go for the run to avoid breaking the promise I've made. My friend took the effort to register and collected the race kit for me, thus it wouldn't be nice if I end up on bed.

So I got myself wash up and drove all the way to MPSJ HQ at Subang Jaya. Arrived at about 6.45am, parking was a breeze as it was still early. I thought I was late because the race was suppose to start however to my surprise, I was told that they are still waiting for the VVIP to flag off the race. How on earth can VVIP be fashionable late when there were a motorcade which consist of 4 super bike escorting the VVIP convoy?

The race was officially flagged off almost 8am. Since my body was still aching, didn't really manage to run fast, and my body seems to get dehydrated much faster probably because I'm over exhausted from yesterday's hiking. This is where I'm most disappointed with the organiser(MPSJ and NST), for not providing sufficient water supply at each of the check points, making it extremely tough for most runners, including those experience one.

The 7th check point, without any water supplies or volunteer workers around.

To the organiser, MPSJ and NST in particular, please look into this seriously because its health hazard and someone could have died due to dehydration.Prevention is better than cure. Glad I'm manage to finish the race despite running with an aching body couple with the lack of water supplies.

Skewer @ Subang Avenue

Decided to drop by a new place called Skewer right after work to support a friend's new restaurant. Located on the ground floor of Subang Avenue(A brand new shopping mall, located right beside Carrefour Subang Jaya which is schedule to be launch in Sept 2010).

Was there with 5 friends, Joanne, Allie, Nicole, Ruey and Sue Lynn to support my friend David Lai who is a fulltime Magician by profession. Quite successful I must say for a 24 year old chap. David never fail to amuse people around him, he actually drop by our table while we were dining to show off some of his magical skill that left most of my friends amazed and puzzled.

This place served mainly grilled and barbecued food, although the variety of food served are limited at the moment, the price is reasonable and this place serve cheap beers compared to most places in Klang Valley. Overall it's a nice place for friends to meet up. Shall not comment much about the food in this post until a proper food testing session is arrange.

If you are looking for a nice place to chill out and doesn't burn a hole in your pocket, this is a good place to consider.

It's been almost 2 year since I last change the design of my blog, and I started getting a little bored with it. So I've decided that it's time to change, a brand new design, something more sleek, clean and classy.

The old design.

The previous design was actually a default blue checkers template by blogger with some minor tweak in its coding. One of the main reason why I decided to change the design was because the previous design has limited readable space, thus limiting the size of my photos.

With the new design below that I'm currently using, the width of the readable space is much more wider, thus allowing me to post bigger photos. I'm still retaining some empty spaces on both sides of my blog to give it a sleek look and feel.

Brand New Look

Basically the new design consist of wider readable space, a new heading with some navigation buttons, and a black & white theme. With the wider design, I'm looking forward to put on bigger photos in all my future posting, maybe I would also invest in a DSLR to play with and photos some high definition photos here if I've the spare time to do so.

It's been quite sometime since I last attended a blogger event organised by Nuffnang, partly because of my hectic work schedule as well as the laziness in me. Just 3 days earlier I got to know that my company will be having an event with Nuffnang. So I tried my luck by contacting the marketing guys who were really friendly(well everyone in DiGi is extremely friendly, this include myself of cause) in handling 2 invites to me and my guest. Thanks Mark Darren & Richie Khaw.

Introducing Ecoba, Restaurant & Bistro

Anyway the event is called Break Free With DiGi, an event organised for blogger to introduce DiGi's newly launch Smart Plan which is suppose to free the Internet feature from being stuck in your mobile phone. Held at Ecoba @ Damansara Perdana, one of the most happening chill out place in PJ, the venue seems to be the perfect place for parties as its strategically located within the golden triangle of Petaling Jaya, comes with ample parking space, affordable food and beverages and cosy interior.

The Entrance

Did I just mentioned that the food and beverages were affordable?? Dont get me wrong, all everything for the night is free, what I meant was the menu looks affordable for KL Standard. Nevertheless since DiGi's throwing the party for blogger, there were free flow of F&B served including beers.

Just like any other event, goody bags were given to every bloggers(nothing much to shout about the freebies though as I've tons of it in my office locker and in my car).

There were lots of games throughout the night where attractive prizes were given away. Several units of BlackBerry and Smart Phones were given to the winners courtesy of DiGi. Unfortunately I'm an employees thus I cant try my luck in winning those cool gadgets.

Ecoba's Interior

From my observation, most of those who attended the event were fresh faces and there were lot more Malay Bloggers this time around which is a good thing i guess as it blend well with DiGi's aspiration in gaining market share in the malay segment.

Sad to say, there were any top blogger at the event, probably because there were no arrangement to invite them, besides, RelayKL @ Bukit Jalil, Hennesy Artistry @ Zouk KL, Khalil Fong Timeless Concert @ Genting and several other parties were all happening at the same time.

On the bright side, I've one of the top food blogger with me as my guest for the night, she is non other than Sue Lynn aka BangsarBabe.

As usual, Timothy Tiah was at the event as Nuffnang was hired to help co-organise the event. Ever since I knew him more than 2 years back when he started Nuffnang, Tim is known to be a very hands on entrepreneur who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty together with his staffs aka nuffies.

The best actor of all time have got to be my friend Mr Chan, the owner of SwitchBox, an event company that has been working with DiGi on various events for the past 7 years. Switchbox is co-organising this event with Nuffnang.

3 Days in Advance

Sometime, I really have to salute my friends for being so... so.... so.. informative. About 2 weeks back I was told that Chilis will open its new outlet on the 21st @ Empire Gallery. Over dinner just now, I was messaging Jane and Allie over BlackBerry Messenger and we decided to drop by Chilis since for light drinks at about 10pm.

So right after dinner, I picked both of them from Hartamas and Subang Jaya before heading over to Chilis @ Empire Gallery. To my horror surprise, we saw the following scene:

Now who is that smart alec who told me that its opening on 21st May? Apparently she was with me just now when we see this banner hanging. So we end up at Little Bally Cafe. That's how my weekend just ended.

Uncle Chua's Birthday Bash

Over the weekend, my colleague Uncle Chua throw a birthday party at Zeta Bar @ KL Hilton. With a marketing guy like him being at the driver's seat organising a birthday party, one can be sure that there will be plenty of booze. If my memory did not fail me, I arrived at about a quarter past 10 and the total bill is already RM4K to RM5K plus. Wonder how is the final bill at the end of the day.

Finger Food

As you can see in the picture, there are much variety in term of finger food, probably because Uncle Chua decides to spend most of it on drink cause I've tried better finger food at Zeta Bar. Anyay the sushi with thin slice of salmon was good, I didn't even know there were salmon (for some reason I usually don't take salmon).

The Booze

The drinks you see is just the beginning of the party. We They had several more bottle as the night goes by and we end up having at least 4 friends piss drunk, some of which we have to carry them to the car with a wheel chair. Those who plan to throw a drinking party @ Zeta Bar, don't worry they provide free wheel chair service if you or your friends ever get piss drunk.

DiGi's 5th CEO Farewell

Yesterday DiGi Telecommunication organised a farewell party for its 5th CEO who will be leaving the company. It's my second time attending an event like this one after joining them for close to 3 years, with the first being the farewell for Morten Lundal who left DiGi Telecommunication to join Vodafone.

If you ask me, DiGi is indeed a very fun and unique company to work with, as it provides its employees the flexibility to virtually work from anywhere without a permanent desk. It's HQ is also design to emulate Google's Campus. You may read more in my previous post on D'House.

Oh ya, announcing his departure in a very short and simple email, Johan says that his heart would always remain yellow. This got the organising team to quickly come up with the theme for the party. Everyone was ask to dress in black and sticker with yellow heart were given to everyone. Reason is pretty simply, everyone has to stick the yellow heart sticker on their clothes.

Worse Mother's Day, Thanks to Ah Yat Abalone Forum

Almost 2 years after my first visit to Ah Yat Abalone Forum, thank to one of my client, I've been telling my family how good the food was and they have been tempted to try it out ever since. So over the weekend during Mother's Day celebration, I decide to give them a treat, which turn out rather disappointing. Here's why:

The Restaurant @ PJ

First dish was the steam tiger prawn, which everyone feels that it was a tad too salty.

It looks good on the picture though.

Next we had the shark fin soup. This is a real disappointment as its really salty.

The roast pork was just okay, and that probably everyone is very hungry as it took them almost an hour to serve the first 3 dish. Well the restaurant isn't even full house in the first place and its Mother's Day, so I really don't know what is wrong with their service.

Mix Vegetables was the total opposite. It's plain.......

Then we had the signature dish, The Abalone. This one is really salty to the max. If I were to rate it from a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the most salty, I would rate it 12.

The fish wasn't any better as my father complains that the fish isn't fresh. Being brought up in a small fishing village, my dad is very particular when it comes to seafood.

Longevity noodles, or should I call it plain noodle because apart from the soy source, there isn't any other ingredient. Even the maggie goreng that I cook from the instant noodle pack taste much better.

Then we had the longivity peach bun. It's dry and hard, they probably kept it in the cold storage for a long time.

Lastly they serve the read bean soup which was so sweet, they could have kill us with diabetes.

My parents normally don't complain about food, especially when they don't have to pay anything for it. But this time, they just cant keep it to them self.

Guess how much the bill turn out to be?

It's a whooping RM600++ for a 9 course meal that taste worse than my regular mamak store. And they have the worse service I've experience till date. I don't care if you are short of staff, if you are charging me that kind of money for a 5 person meal, make sure you maintain a certain standard in term of the food preparation as well as service.

This would be my first and last time paying for a meal at Ah Yat Abalone Forum. If the owner is reading this, or if you happen to know the owner. Please inform him/her that their restaurant has just ruin my family's mother.

Free Japanese Dinner from Genting

I'm not a regular gambler, in fact I don't event gamble during Chinese New Year when all my family and relatives are busy gambling away. However something struck my last week and I ended up in Genting Highland with 2 of my good friends.

It all started with a budget of RM300, I played Russian Roulette in which I initially double up my capital before losing it all 2 hours later.

Not satisfied with the end result and armed with strong determination to take back what I've lost, I took another RM200 from my wallet and ended up winning a total of RM700.

Well the winning may not be big but the satisfaction I got from it was priceless. Called 2 of my other good friends right after that and we went for a nice Japanese dinner @ Hartamas.

Catching up with the Musician turned CEO

Last night I'd the opportunity to catch up with Jason Lo @ Bentley's Pub, Nikko Hotel Kuala Lumpur after our last meet up back in 2008. Guess we click quite well as we discuss on various issue involving the telecommunication industry.

In case you do not know, Jason was actively involved in the local music scene and still supporting the local industry till today. He was subsequently invited by Dato' Tony Fenandes to join TuneTalk, a MVNO(Mobile Virtual Network Operator) which deal with prepaid sim cards.

Was at Nikko earlier in the evening to catch Jason sharing his life story, how he started his career in the music industry and subsequently became the CEO of TuneTalk. Being in the local creative scene, Jason never fail to tickle the audience to laughter. Among all sharing session organised by Young Corporate Malaysian(YCM), this is one of the best.

HTC Official Launch 2010

Attended the HTC Official Launch 2010 @ The Opera, Sunway Pyramid. The event was held inconjunction with the launch of 3 new models from HTC, namely the HTC Legend(an andriod smartphone), HTC HD Mini and HTC Smart.

The Centre Stage

Well I must say that the event was somehow a disappointment as there wasn't much hype during the launch. They only serve free flow of soda and limited finger food. It might be due to budget constrain but an official launch is suppose to be a grand event that helps push sales. Especially so when it comes to hi-tech stuff like smartphone. How could they possible put on such a lousy show when there are so many people from the media attending the event?

Being in the Telco Industries, I've been to numerous event and launches, and I must say that this is one of the worse event I've been to. Hopefully the people at HTC will look into this seriously and improve significantly at their next event.

DiGi iPhone Launch

For all those hardcore DiGi fans and iPhone Fanatics, the wait is finally over for you guys and gurls as DiGi will be officially launching iPhone commercially in an hour time. Yes that's right, you will now be able to sign up for iPhone with DiGi.

To mark the launch of iPhone, DiGi has yet again came up with a range of innovative plans called iDiGi. Since most of you already own an iPhone, or at least seen, heard or touches one before I shall not dive in on the features of the device. I shall instead compare the plans offered by DiGi with the previous iPhone monopoly, Maxis Bhd.

For entry level user you may want to consider the iDiGi 88 which basically requires the user to commit to a minimum usage of RM88 a month. This plan alone is RM12 cheaper than the nearest competitor Value 1 plan which is price at RM100/month. This plans also comes with 1GB of Data Usage, 200 SMS to all network and 20 MMS to all networks which is double of what you enjoy with Value 1. You also get 200 minutes worth of calls to all network. I shall let you do the math. Additional usage will be charged accordingly, 15 sen for calls, 10 sen for sms and 20 sen for MMS(applicable to all networks)

On top of that, additional usage above the given quota will not be charged, however speed will be throttle. This should be sufficient for beginner and people who doesn't surf much but still wants to look cool owner one of the hottest phone in on earth.

For intermediate user, iDiGi 138 will be the plan for you. Again this plan is RM17 cheaper compared to Value 2 plan. For this plan, you get 3GB worth of Data Usage(which is 2GB more than Value 2) , 400 SMS to all network and 40 MMS to all network. You will also get 450 minutes worth of calls. If iDiGi 138 isn't enough, then go to iDiGi 238, the highest range among the iDiGi plan which is RM12 cheaper compared to Value 3 which is charging you RM250/month. iDiGi gives you 1000 minutes worth of calls, 5GB worth of Data, 600 SMS to all networks and 60 MMS to all network. Additional usage will be charged accordingly, 10 sen for calls, 10 sen for SMSand 20 sen for MMS(applicable to all networks)

On top of that, you get an iPhone 3G 8MB absolutely FREE. If you prefer better models, you can also top up RM390 for 3GS 16GB(RM300 cheaper than the competitor) and RM890 for 3GS 31 MB(RM200 cheaper than the competitor)

Energizer Night Race 2010

Not too sure what gotten into me, but I've been quite crazy about running lately. I don't mean running away from anyone but running in race. Honestly, I'm not a great runner but the love for running just began developing for no apparent reason. Anyway, last night I was at the Energizer Night Race 2010, the first ever race to be held at night.

It's a pretty interesting event I must say because everyone is given an Energizer Headlight and is expected to run in the dark(well not the whole journey but most of it). We participated in the 10KM race which took place around major route in Cyberjaya.

I'm glad to say that I've manage to complete the 10km race within 1 hour and 15 minutes, well within the allocated time of 1 hour and 30 minutes to qualify. For that, I earn myself a medal and a certificate. Will definitely look forward to next years night race.

If you miss the race this year, be sure you join the race next year. It a good experience.
